We are especially happy to offer the Invisalign clear aligner system to teens and adults who want the same results as traditional braces with more freedom and flexibility.
What is involved in Invisalign treatment?
This revolutionary clear aligner system aligns your and improves your oral health using clear aligner trays constructed from a smooth, comfortable material that fits over your teeth. These trays are designed to be switched out every 1-2 weeks to keep up with the teeth as they move into their desired new positions. When used as directed, Invisalign has been proven to be just as effective as traditional braces at treating many of the most common orthodontic issues. At your initial consultation, we’ll use x-rays and digital impressions to create a precise 3D image of the teeth at your initial consultation. From this, we build a customized aligner that is specific to each patient’s smile.
What are the benefits of choosing Jersey City Invisalign treatment?
Invisalign makes it easy to keep your teeth clean, which is especially important during orthodontic treatment. While the face that your aligners are nearly invisible, the fact that you can remove them is just as important. You can remove them to brush and floss as you normally would.
Another benefit of their removability is that you can eat whatever you want during your treatment with clear aligners. Food restrictions are often the biggest learning curve with traditional braces. With Invisalign, you don’t have to skip any of your favorite foods while you’re working on a straighter smile! Invisalign aligners are designed to be taken off before eating or drinking anything other than water. This means you’ll never have to worry about food getting stuck in brackets or wires. Just make sure you’re clearing your teeth after every meal before putting your aligners back on, as well as cleaning your aligners with warm water at least once or twice a day.
With Invisalign aligners, there are no pesky wires to poke out and irritate the mouth, and there aren’t any adjustment appointments. Invisalign wearers are still expected to attend follow-up visits about every 6-8 weeks so Dr. Trulby can be sure everything is progressing as it should.
How does the Jersey City Invisalign system work?
The Invisalign system itself is pretty straightforward. Just wear each aligner for 20-22 hours every day, and switch them out for the next in the series every 1-2 weeks. Your aligners should only be removed to eat, drink, brush and floss. Your teeth will move gradually as the aligners are replaced with the next one in the series until they reach their final desired positions.
It’s important to remember that every patient will respond differently to orthodontic treatment. Invisalign works in a different, less invasive way than braces to straighten the teeth. This means we can’t say for sure how long a patient will need to wear them before seeing results. Though the average tends to be somewhere between 6 and 18 months, this can vary widely from case to case. Treatment time depends significantly on patient compliance.
The average treatment time is estimated based on patients following the recommended guidelines. This means wearing aligners for at least 20-22 hours every single day, during treatment. This is the most important element to success with your Jersey City Invisalign. Your trays will be custom designed to fit you. They will need to be changed on time in order to keep up with the shifting of the teeth as they begin to straighten. Not changing aligners as scheduled or skipping your appointments can mess up your progress. During your regular treatments with Heights Orthodontics, we’ll check on your treatment to make sure everything is going as planned.
